Ruggedization
Performance When Failure is Not an Option
Performance When Failure is Not an Option
When you’re in-country, there’s no going back to the store if a critical system goes out. Failure is simply not an option. It’s true for the electronic countermeasures that keep operators safe, and for the tactical communications systems that enable teams to work as one. Conditions are often unpredictable and always challenging. Military leaders need to know that every time you lead the unit outside the wire, you’ve got the industry’s most reliable and durable signal sources powering the tools you depend on.
For the past two decades EM Research has served as a partner to U.S. and allied defense forces, designing and manufacturing frequency generation and signal conversion solutions that offer mission-critical performance and “zero-defects” reliability, regardless of the environment or complexity. It’s no secret signal sources can be highly sensitive to shock and vibration. At EM Research, we design signal sources that operate precisely under high vibration and shock environments. This ruggedized performance provides tactical advantages to teams on the ground, and powers precision electronic warfare systems.
To meet a specific customer request, we designed the Super-THOR artillery grade synthesizer. This ultra-resilient synthesizer is an upgraded variation of our popular THOR package, designed to survive up to 250 Gs of shock. With dual, 16 GHz RF outputs with full detent GPPO shroud connectors and a semi-custom hermetic package design, the Super-THOR is one of the most robust ruggedized products we’ve ever created.
Low-earth orbit poses daunting challenges, but our Hi-Rel HLX Series is right at home beyond the skies. This series is designed for instrument-carrying sounding rockets for aeronomy, microgravity and astronomy research applications. Our unique hybrid architecture design enables higher frequencies in ultra-small SMT packages that are capable of operation in especially harsh environments. The HLX series is low-earth orbit capable (non-qualified) and is a critical component to research missions currently underway.
